Valiant Insurance Group Inc., a subsidiary of Bermuda-based Ariel Holdings Ltd., announced that ADRIAN SCOTT has joined its U.S. property/casualty insurance operations as senior vice president. Scott will head up Valiant's Professional Liability Insurance practice. Prior to joining Valiant, he served as managing director, growth leader, with the Global Professional Liability practice at Marsh.
Farmers Insurance Group Inc. hired DENISE RUGGIERO as vice president, legislative and regulatory affairs. Ruggiero spent 20 years at State Farm Insurance Co., most recently as managing attorney in Sacramento, Calif., responsible for legislative, regulatory and initiative activity in California and 10 Western states. She is a member of the Texas and California State Bar Associations, a certified public accountant, and holds the designation of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter.
EDWARD M. SMITH was named president of insurance and financial services holding company ULLICO Inc., effective May 1. Smith is currently executive vice president of ULLICO and a life-long member and long-time regional leader of the Laborers' International Union of North America. After joining LIUNA in 1968 at the age of 13, Smith will retire from the union to become ULLICO president.
Key Risk, a workers' compensation insurer and member company of W.R. Berkley Corp., promoted LORI LINTON
to the position of assistant vice president and controller. In her new role, Linton will continue to report to chief operating officer and chief financial officer Becky Karr. Linton joined Key Risk in September 2004 as the director of accounting and assistant controller.
