People on the Move: Reinsurance

Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc. appointed PETER ZAFFINO as chief executive officer of its reinsurance intermediary Guy Carpenter. He will report directly to MMC's president and CEO, Brian Duperreault. Zaffino, who joined Guy Carpenter in 2001, most recently served as executive vice president and head of U.S. Treaty Operations.

Guy Carpenter also appointed BRITT NEWHOUSE as chairman of the company. Newhouse, who joined Guy Carpenter in 1979 in the firm's New York Casualty Treaty Department, most recently served as president of the Americas broking operations. He is also a member of the firm's Executive Committee.

White Mountains Re Ltd., the reinsurance unit of White Mountains Insurance Group Ltd., named DWIGHT EVANS president and chief executive officer of Folksamerica Reinsurance Co. Evans joined White Mountains Re last August as executive vice president, global reinsurance, and as president and CEO of White Mountains Re Underwriting Services Ltd., a Bermuda-based subsidiary of White Mountains Re. He succeeds Edward J. Stanco at New York-based Folksamerica Re, and Warren Trace has been tapped to succeed Evans as president of White Mountains Re's Bermuda-based reinsurance operations.
