The PCI Security Standards Council
As you will see in our Industry Risk Report on retail, the payment card industry, or PCI, has a lot to say about how the retail sector manages its information-technology and consumer-privacy exposures. At the heart of this effort is the PCI Security Standards Council, a global forum for data security standards.
The PCI Security Standards Council Web site details just what exactly their standard entails, as well as provides information on its training and certification programs, a self-assessment tool to gauge your compliance with the standard, and a detailed Q&A and glossary section for those of us who still need to get up to speed on data security.
